About the Fleet Reserve Association
The Association is celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2024. The FRA was named after the Navy's policy of transferring personnel to the Fleet Reserve or Fleet Marine Corps Reserve after 20 or more years of active duty, but less than the 30 years required for retirement purposes. Although the membership requirements have changed as the Association has evolved, our purpose - to preserve and enhance military pay, benefits, and quality of life programs - is as important today as it was in 1924.

As the collective voice for all Navy, Marine Corp, and Coast Guard enlisted and officer personnel, the FRA speaks on behalf of its members on Capitol Hill. There is no law protecting military benefits, so the FRA is here to stand guard.
A Congressionally chartered, non-profit organization that represents the interests of the Sea Service community before the U.S. Congress, the Association's membership in comprised of current and former enlisted and officer members of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. The FRA was chartered as the Fleet Reserve Association in 1924 and, after more than 80 years, the FRA remains dedicated to its primary mission of serving the interests of current and former enlisted and officer Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard personnel.
In addition to its legislative advocacy efforts, the FRA assists its members with career problems by maintaining close liaison with the DoD, VA, Homeland Security and other government agencies. The FRA continues to educate members of Congress, many of whom have little or no military experience, on the challenges facing career personnel.
The FRA presents a strong, unified voice to ensure that enlisted issues are heard by Congress and urges support of legislation to increase pay and benefits.
The Mt. Rainier Branch 104 was chartered on July 28th, 1947, and continues to serve the sea service veterans of South King, Pierce, and Thurston Counties.
